I’m a twenty something recent college graduate living in the windy city. I’m a self proclaimed beauty guru and obsessed with everything and anything in the big wonderful world of cosmetics.
My obsession began my junior year of college, when I made my first trip to Sephora. I remember asking the consultant to match me with an eyeshadow and concealer, and I left spending about $90. I remember the anxiety I felt as I swiped my credit card ( thankfully I had my good friend Visa along with me to help pick up the tab); I had never spent that much money on makeup before! Now, four years later, if I spend under $200 in a single visit at Sephora, I feel like I was bargain hunting!
Since that first trip, I realized the difference high quality (also known as “prestige”) cosmetics and skin care can offer. The difference they made in how I looked and felt, along with the confidence that came from that change, was priceless. I think it’s important to educate others about the harsh and harmful chemicals, waxes, and ingredients that are found in many drugstore brands. There are many products available to us these days that work great and are great for us, they just tend to come with a higher price tag. I’m all about pinching pennies, except when it comes to the health of my skin, my lashes, and my pout!
The title of my blog is inspired by one of my favorite movies, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and a store I should start owning stock in, Sephora. Audrey Hepburn’s’ character in the movie finds a sense of wonderment while peering through the windows at Tiffany’s. I can relate to this feeling while I’m at Sephora (though I must admit, I can’t just peer through the window, it’s more of just barging through the doors). And hence, the name of my blog was born.
I try and test it all! The thrill I get when a new product hits the shelves constantly drives me to pick up the newest products and innovations in cosmetics and skin care; thankfully Sephora has a great return policy! I’ve become the “go to” adviser for my friends and family on what works, and what doesn’t.
I love nothing more than being able to help others chose the best products for them. With so many brands hitting the shelves these days, it can be a bit overwhelming. I use this blog to share my experiences and personal preferences of each and every product I try! If I can lessen some of the stress of finding quality products by doing the trying and testing for you, then my work here is done!
My opinions are 100% my own, and I am not paid to review any of the products you find here (unless stated otherwise).
